(EN) Capri pays tribute to one of the ultimate icons of world cinema. As part of Capri Hollywood, the international film festival organized with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Campania Region, and with the participation of Intesa Sanpaolo and Givova, the Blue Island dedicates a special event to Brigitte Bardot, an enduring symbol of freedom, beauty and modernity.

At the heart of the tribute is the special screening of “Contempt” (Le Mépris, 1963), the masterpiece by Jean-Luc Godard, shot largely on the Blue Island, featuring the iconic sequences at Casa Malaparte. A manifesto film of the Nouvelle Vague, it tells the story of the crisis of love and of cinema itself, and it consecrated Bardot as a universal muse of the big screen, alongside Michel Piccoli and Jack Palance.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, December 30 at 12:00 pm, in the evocative Certosa di San Giacomo, which on this occasion will be transformed into a privileged place of encounter between film memory, architecture and the Mediterranean landscape.

Making the event even more meaningful, the Certosa is also currently hosting the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia exhibition “The Women’s Diaspora,” curated by Antonella Felicioni, an exhibition that explores the role, image and evolution of the female figure in cinema, creating an ideal dialogue with the tribute to Brigitte Bardot.

“Il disprezzo” di Jean-Luc Godard, girato sull’Isola Azzurra nel 1963, evento speciale alla Certosa

(IT) Capri rende omaggio a una delle icone assolute del cinema mondiale. Nell’ambito di Capri Hollywood, il festival internazionale di cinema organizzato con il sostegno del Ministero della Cultura e della Regione Campania, e con la partecipazione di Intesa Sanpaolo e Givova, l’Isola Azzurra dedica un evento speciale a Brigitte Bardot, simbolo intramontabile di libertà, bellezza e modernità.

Al centro dell’omaggio, la proiezione speciale de “Il disprezzo” (Le Mépris, 1963), capolavoro firmato da Jean-Luc Godard, girato in gran parte proprio sull’Isola Azzurra, con le iconiche riprese alla Casa Malaparte. Un film-manifesto della Nouvelle Vague che racconta la crisi dell’amore e del cinema stesso, e che ha consacrato Bardot come musa universale del grande schermo, accanto a Michel Piccoli e Jack Palance.

L’appuntamento è fissato per martedì 30 dicembre alle ore 12, nella suggestiva Certosa di San Giacomo, che per l’occasione si trasformerà in un luogo privilegiato di incontro tra memoria cinematografica, architettura e paesaggio mediterraneo.

A rendere ancora più significativo l’evento, la Certosa ospita in questi giorni anche la mostra del Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia “La diaspora della donna”, a cura di Antonella Felicioni, un percorso espositivo che indaga il ruolo, l’immagine e l’evoluzione della figura femminile nel cinema, creando un dialogo ideale con l’omaggio a Brigitte Bardot.

The award intended for artistic excellence between theater and cinema was given by the board of the Capri in the World Institute “to two protagonists of the season, Mastelloni whose partnership with Patroni Griffi wrote in the 1970s and 1980s pages of theater history, and who 50 years after his debut is back on the big screen with Pupi Avati’s Dante’ – reads the motivation – and to Tommaso Ragno, a great Italian talent between stage, film, and series also international, in the extraordinary cast of Mario Martone’s Nostalgia with the unforgettable role of Malommo.”

The golden roll of the award is named after the playwright and director also Ben Gazzara, Roberto Andò, Michael Radford, Mario Martone, Massimo Ranieri, and Michele Placido. And still in the sign of Dante (in the film Mastelloni is Pope Boniface VIII), the exhibition “In Dante’s Clothes,” the latest work by costume designer Andrea Sorrentino made for Pupi Avati, opens tomorrow at the Certosa di San Giacomo. On display will be 10 of the most important costumes and hairstyles recreated both through the study of literary and iconographic sources and through creative dialogue with the director. The exhibition guides the viewer to discover, through sketches, set photos, costumes, and hairstyles, the process through which the costume designer builds to the characterization of the character, which for Sorrentino always includes makeup and hair design.
