British director Mike Figgis will lead the “2023 Capri Special Contest” jury board. 144 movies were selected among the 1500 proposed coming from 98 countries.
The movies will be screened online on the MYmovies and Eventive platform and will be available for free worldwide to viewers during our Festival ( December 26, 2023 – January 1, 2024 ) for up to three days.
Mike Figgis, who is directing a documentary about Francis Ford Coppola’ upcoming movie “Megalopilis”, described Coppola’s epic as “Julius Caesar meets Blade Runner”. Probably no one is looking forward to the film’s premiere – as yet unannounced, but Cannes seems likely – quite as much as Coppola himself, who’s been dreaming of making it for more than 40 years. Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, which has swallowed more than £95 million of the director’s vineyard-rooted fortune, ought to be the movie event of 2024.
“Capri Hollywood – The International Film Festival 2023” is produced by Capri in The World Institute with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture and the Region Campania (Film Commission Campania). Among the patronages are Città di Capri, Comune di Anacapri, Parliamentary Assembly Of the Mediterranean, Città Metropolitana di Napoli, Croce Rossa Italiana and Nuovo Imaie. In collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, Isaia, and Givova and also with Caremar and Rai Radio2.
