Matteo Garrone’s “Io Capitano” after being honored is now officially nominated at the Oscars 2024 in the category of “Best International Feature”. The movie has been already honored at the “Venice Film Festival 2023″ (Silver Lion – Best Director Matteo Garrone) and at the “Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival” with 4 Awards.
Italy is shortlisted along with “Perfect Days” (Japan), “Society of the Snow” (Spain) “The Teachers’ Lounge” (Germany) and “The Zone of Interest” (United Kingdom).
The masterpiece is awaited at the Chinese Theatre for the 19th edition of “Los Angeles, Italia – Film Fashion and Art Festival” (March 3-9, 2024) right before the ceremony of the Academy Awards.
The film was produced by Archimede and Rai Cinema and internationally distributed by Cohen Media Group. It was inspired by the true stories of emigration from Africa to Europe by Kouassi Pli Adama Mamadou, Arnaud Zohin, Amara Fofana, Brhane Tareke and Siaka Doumbia.
