Leopoldo Mastelloni and Tommaso Ragno are the winners of the Capri Patroni Griffi Award of the 27th edition of Capri – Hollywood – The International Film festival that officially opens tomorrow on the azure island, with the support of the DG Cinema and Audiovisual of the MiC and the Campania Region together with Intesa Sanpaolo, Terna, Givova, Rs Productions.
The award intended for artistic excellence between theater and cinema was given by the board of the Capri in the World Institute “to two protagonists of the season, Mastelloni whose partnership with Patroni Griffi wrote in the 1970s and 1980s pages of theater history, and who 50 years after his debut is back on the big screen with Pupi Avati’s Dante’ – reads the motivation – and to Tommaso Ragno, a great Italian talent between stage, film, and series also international, in the extraordinary cast of Mario Martone’s Nostalgia with the unforgettable role of Malommo.”
The golden roll of the award is named after the playwright and director also Ben Gazzara, Roberto Andò, Michael Radford, Mario Martone, Massimo Ranieri, and Michele Placido. And still in the sign of Dante (in the film Mastelloni is Pope Boniface VIII), the exhibition “In Dante’s Clothes,” the latest work by costume designer Andrea Sorrentino made for Pupi Avati, opens tomorrow at the Certosa di San Giacomo. On display will be 10 of the most important costumes and hairstyles recreated both through the study of literary and iconographic sources and through creative dialogue with the director. The exhibition guides the viewer to discover, through sketches, set photos, costumes, and hairstyles, the process through which the costume designer builds to the characterization of the character, which for Sorrentino always includes makeup and hair design.
