MONICA GUERRITORE RECEIVED THE “CAPRI – LINA WERTMÜLLER” PRIZE FOR “ANNA” AT CAPRI HOLLYWOOD 2025

Starting December 26 on the Blue Island, the international festival reaches its 30th edition

(EN) ANACAPRI, Dec. 14 – The “Capri – Lina Wertmüller” Award of the 30th edition of Capri Hollywood – The International Film Festival, scheduled from December 26 to January 2 on the Blue Island, has been awarded to Monica Guerritore. The prize honors the memory of the legendary Roman director, co-founder of the festival and the first woman director ever nominated for an Academy Award, and celebrates international excellence in women’s cinema.

The award is presented to Guerritore in the year of her directorial debut with Anna, a cinematic tribute to Anna Magnani. The announcement was made by Tony Petruzzi, President of the Istituto Capri nel Mondo, which organizes the historic year-end festival founded by Pascal Vicedomini, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Campania Region, and with the participation of Intesa Sanpaolo, Unisalute, and Givova.

The anniversary edition will officially open on December 26 in Anacapri, with the inauguration at Villa Rosa Museum of a celebratory exhibition by B. Zarro dedicated to the thirty years of Capri Hollywood. The exhibition retraces the history of the festival through images, archival materials, and testimonies from the protagonists who have shaped its journey.

“We are delighted to honor an important, charismatic artist deeply loved by audiences like Monica Guerritore,” Petruzzi emphasized. “She is a leading figure in Italian theatre and has enjoyed a long film career with more than forty films, working with directors such as Mauro Bolognini, Ferzan Özpetek, and Gabriele Lavia, and more recently with Pappi Corsicato in the highly successful series Inganno.”

In previous editions, the “Capri – Lina Wertmüller” Award has been presented, among others, to American director Greta Gerwig, Micaela Ramazzotti, and Maura Delpero. This year once again, Capri Hollywood will offer a rich program of premieres and showcases featuring the season’s successes, confirming its role as a strategic platform for promoting Italian cinema worldwide, international cinema in Italy, and as a key stop on the road to the Oscars.

The first celebratory “Capri 30th Award” honors were already presented in Rome on October 24 to Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón, director Matteo Garrone, and producers Riccardo Tozzi (Cattleya), Nicola Claudio (Rai Cinema), Rita Rusic, and American producer McKenna Marshall.

Dal 26 dicembre sull’Isola Azzurra, il festival internazionale raggiunge la sua 30ª edizione

(IT) ANACAPRI, 14 dic – È stato assegnato a Monica Guerritore il Premio “Capri – Lina Wertmuller” della 30ª edizione di Capri Hollywood – The International Film Festival, in programma dal 26 dicembre al 2 gennaio sull’Isola azzurra. Il riconoscimento celebra la memoria della leggendaria regista romana, co-fondatrice della manifestazione e prima donna regista candidata all’Oscar, e valorizza le eccellenze internazionali del cinema femminile.

Il premio viene conferito a Guerritore nell’anno del suo debutto alla regia con “Anna”, omaggio cinematografico ad Anna Magnani. L’annuncio è stato dato da Tony Petruzzi, presidente dell’Istituto Capri nel Mondo, che organizza la storica kermesse di fine anno, fondata da Pascal Vicedomini, con il sostegno del Ministero della Cultura, della Regione Campania e la partecipazione di Intesa Sanpaolo, Unisalute e Givova.

L’edizione del trentennale si aprirà ufficialmente il 26 dicembre ad Anacapri, con l’inaugurazione al Museo Villa Rosa di una mostra celebrativa di B. Zarro dedicata ai trent’anni di “Capri Hollywood”, che ripercorre la storia del festival attraverso immagini, materiali d’archivio e testimonianze dei protagonisti che hanno segnato il percorso della manifestazione.

Nelle passate edizioni il Premio “Capri – Lina Wertmuller” è stato assegnato, tra le altre, alla regista americana Greta Gerwig, a Micaela Ramazzotti e Maura Delpero.
Anche quest’anno Capri Hollywood proporrà un ricco programma di anteprime e rassegne con i successi della stagione, confermandosi piattaforma strategica per la promozione del cinema italiano nel mondo, del cinema internazionale in Italia e tappa chiave nella corsa agli Oscar.

Già assegnati a Roma, lo scorso 24 ottobre, i primi “Capri 30th Award” celebrativi all’attrice spagnola Karla Sofía Gascón, al regista Matteo Garrone e ai produttori Riccardo Tozzi (Cattleya), Nicola Claudio (Rai Cinema), Rita Rusic e all’americana McKenna Marshall.
