MATTEO GARRONE’S ”ME CAPTAIN” CHOSEN TO REPRESENT ITALY AT 2024 OSCARS®

”Me Captain” directed by Matteo Garrone (Silver Lion winner at the 80th Venice International Film Festival), has been chosen as the Italian candidate for the Best Foreign Film Oscar® 2024.

The film was inspired by the true stories of emigration from Africa to Europe by Kouassi Pli Adama Mamadou, Arnaud Zohin, Amara Fofana, Brhane Tareke, and Siaka Doumbia.

The screening received a great welcome at the 80th Venice International Film Festival with a standing ovation. Now is ready for the Oscars race, and ”hoping that my film will touch the heart of Americans” as Garrone said.

The Variety: ” It is hard not to get caught up in the film’s great emotional range” supported by the skill of actor Seydou Sarr.”

The Hollywood Reporter: ”An adventure peppered by moments of horror but also ravishing beauty and grace.”
