(EN) Capri Hollywood pays tribute to one of contemporary cinema’s most visionary voices by awarding the Capri Visionary Award to Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, director of the recent film Frankenstein, produced by Netflix and premiered worldwide at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in 2025.
The film marks a new and deeply personal reinterpretation of Mary Shelley’s iconic novel, fully aligned with Guillermo del Toro’s long-standing artistic path, consistently devoted to reimagining the great founding myths of modern culture. Frankenstein features a high-profile international cast including Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, alongside Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz, confirming the project’s strong artistic ambition and major production scale.
Del Toro is also the filmmaker who won two Academy Awards for The Shape of Water, receiving Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture, and cementing his status as one of the central figures in international cinema over the past decade. An auteur capable of bridging arthouse cinema and the mainstream industry, fantastical imagination and emotional depth, formal rigor and a powerful connection with global audiences.
The 30th edition of Capri Hollywood is promoted by the Istituto Capri nel Mondo, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Campania Region, and with the participation of Intesa Sanpaolo and Givova.
The 2025 Chairman is Anglo-Sicilian actor Vince Riotta.
The festival will officially begin on December 26 with three screenings across Anacapri and Capri’s Piazzetta, while the formal opening is scheduled for the morning of December 27 in Anacapri, accompanied by the Vatican Gendarmerie Band, honored for its ongoing commitment to promoting peace and dialogue through music.

Il film rappresenta una nuova e profondamente personale rilettura dell’iconico romanzo di Mary Shelley, pienamente coerente con il percorso artistico di Guillermo del Toro, da sempre impegnato nella rilettura dei grandi miti fondativi della cultura moderna. Frankenstein è interpretato da un cast internazionale di primo piano che comprende Oscar Isaac nel ruolo di Victor Frankenstein, accanto a Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth e Christoph Waltz, confermando la forte ambizione artistica e l’importante scala produttiva del progetto.
