‘EMILIA PEREZ’ TO RECEIVE 2024 CAPRI BEST ENSEMBLE CAST AWARD. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ANNUAL EVENT FROM DECEMBER 26th TO JANUARY 2nd

“Capri Best Ensemble Cast Award 2024” has been awarded to Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, and Adriana Paz for “Emilia Pérez” by Jacques Audiard, special prize of Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival (December 26 – January 2), which dedicates its 29th edition to the theme “Diversity: The Colors of Beauty.” The announcement was made by Tony Renis, honorary president of the festival, produced by Pascal Vicedomini and organized with MiC-DG Cinema, the Campania Region, alongside Intesa Sanpaolo, Trenitalia, and Givova.

“Diversity should always be seen as an added value: it spreads beauty and brings color and warmth to life, enriching both individuals and a society that, as a whole, should strive for maximum inclusion.

And that is once again demonstrated by this extraordinary film, already in the running for the 2025 Oscars after its triumph at the last Cannes Festival. The collective award, which last year Capri bestowed upon the cast of Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan, is, in our view, the one that best reflects the spirit of a musical comedy—a blend of melodrama and gangster story with a vibrant queer soul,” said Renis.

The story is adapted from a theatrical libretto by the same French director, inspired by the novel Écoute (2018) by Boris Razon. A tale of a ruthless Mexican drug lord who becomes a woman, the film will hit Italian theaters on January 9, distributed by Lucky Red.

Capri, Hollywood 2024, which has already awarded the ‘Cult Award’ to Johnny Depp’s Modi and the ‘Visionary Award’ to Michele Placido’s Eterno Visionario, has been a bridge between Italian and American cinema since 1995. It is a well-established stop for the star system at the start of awards season. As tradition dictates, the free program for the public will feature premieres and meetings with many stars expected in the Gulf of Naples, as well as the traditional symposia dedicated to the audiovisual industry.
