Nel quartiere romano dell’EUR, dove il silenzio notturno è attraversato dall’eco della misteriosa scomparsa di una bambina, due sconosciuti si incontrano su un autobus notturno che percorre la città. Francesco è un giovane ai margini, un vagabondo ironico che vive di espedienti, con una bottiglia nello zaino e una testarda voglia di continuare a sognare. Carlotta, avvolta in una pelliccia elegante, si presenta come una celebre violoncellista in tournée, ma dietro lo sguardo stanco e la voce sicura affiora una realtà diversa, fatta di notti lunghe e irrisolte.
